Since Christine became a professional artist some 10 years ago, she has found the opportunities for self development excitingly endless. In 2001 she opened The Looking Glass Studio Gallery, in the same premises as the family business, Chris's Antiques and Collectables. This has allowed her the privilege of being able to paint more often. Christine has found that her modern design approach and painting technique can be showcased fully in her own studio environment. Here, people can meet with her and discuss her works in a relaxed and casual manner. She was schooled in portraiture and still life and often paints people into her landscapes to enhance the storytelling, and strength, of her subject matter. Christine’s affinity and passion to paint landscape becomes stronger as the days go on. In fact, these days she paints more outdoor subjects than the portraits and still life for which she first became well known. Christine travels Australia and more especially Victoria, for her inspiration and many of her works are painted en plein air. Christine’s larger works and some of her commissions are often painted in the studio which is opened to the public during the shop’s normal business hours or by appointment.
Christine has received many awards for her work
which is found in private collections in Australia and overseas. She is
a signatory Fellow of the Australian Guild of Realist Artists and is a
well respected tutor and member of the art community. |
